Arrival of ‘Eco-conscious’ Concept by Acer’s Vero 514 in its Chromebook
Acer has been going to add Chromebook to its Vero lineup, which mentions that it was going to provide laptop buyers an “eco-conscious” option. Just like the Windows laptop that had arrived before it, the Chromebook Vero 514 has been made up by using recycled plastics, had a chassis which would be 99 percent recyclable and comes in packaging which would be 90 percent recycled paper. Acer’s press release also recommends that a part of the Chromebook’s packaging would be “transformed into a multi-purpose triangular laptop stand,” if an individual seems as loathe to throw something away.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Chromebook packaging was changed into multi-purpose triangular laptop stand
- The trackpad’s surface was made up of 100 percent “ocean-bound plastics
- Acer’s Vero 514 would be offering a Best Buy which would begin in mid-October
As for the laptop’s ecological footprint, Acer mentioned that the trackpad’s surface was made up of 100 percent “ocean-bound plastics,” whereas the keycaps were made up of 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastics. 30 percent of the chassis’ plastic was absolutely recycled. Well, that’s not that impressive as mentioned because $1,200 MacBook Air had 100 percent recycled chassis, but it has been really great to see that Acer has been offering relatively granular details like Apple. It was difficult to find any numbers which would back up Asus’ claims that its Chromebook Flip CX5 has an “eco-friendly design” because of its “recycled materials built-in.”
Additionally, Acer claims that the Chromebook was very easy to repair and upgrade, with customary screws which would let an individual to access the memory and storage. Whereas that has not been on the level of what Framework’s doing with its fully fixable and upgradeable laptop, that computer would nearly be double the price. Well, the basemodel 514 would come with the Core i3, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, starts at $499.99.
The 514 has been running ChromeOS that would widely be considered to be less demanding than Windows which would facilitate the 514 stay out of the landfill for longer that was nothing but absolutely good news from an environmental perspective.
If an individual would like to have a little more modern hardware, which would include creature comforts like a fingerprint reader, Acer mentions the Vero 514 would be offered at the Best Buy which would begin in “mid-October.”
